Enough Already

There is a point at which it’s time to tell the news organizations that we admire them for telling the story, but the IED-infested streets on the front line of the war in Iraq is not the place to embed reporters who have families and young children, for Chrissakes.

It’s horrific enough that we have to send soldiers there.

Are we better off seeing the news from the frontlines? I don't think so. I'd prefer having an anchor imbedded in front of a teleprompter after the facts were relayed to them. If the 70 or so newspeople who have perished since the beginning of this war lived to tell their tales to their grandchildren, we'd all be better off.

Is this imbedding thing some kind of macho news fraternity/sorority? Sorry guys contrary to what some of you would like to believe, being there and reporting isn't the same as being a part of history. You're still just reading the news, without a teleprompter. It happens, you see it, you tell it. To the people at home the end result is the same. Stop pretending & come home where you belong.
